Field Security enhances the standard security model to allow administrators to apply permissions on a field level. This is particularly useful when you want to ensure that users don’t change sensitive fields on master records, for example the Credit Limit on the Customer card.
Another feature of Field Security lets you mark fields as “mandatory”. This means you can ensure that users fill out all the required information on a record before it’s saved in the system.
For example, you may want to be sure that when users are creating a new Customer they include the Salesperson Code and Location Code.
Field Security will improve data accuracy within the system. Sensitive data entry (such as Dimensions) can be controlled down to a per-user level.
Users can be grouped into the same role-based groups used in Easy Security – in fact the groups are shared between the two granules to streamline management and reduce data entry.
Permissions and mandatory fields can be set on a per-group level, and additionally at a per-user level. This saves on data entry. The granule also has shortcuts for “SUPER” users too, so you can easily allow your high level users access to your important fields.
