enwis) for Alex Fraser

by Ian Thompson

Australia’s Leading construction and demolition materials recycler, Alex Fraser, has successfully implemented the en wis) waste management and recycling system. The new system replaces a clutch of disparate systems and provides a single integrated system, from the weighbridge to the general ledger, operating across multiple sites in Melbourne and Brisbane.

The system went live in Victoria on 1st June 2009. The Brisbane operation is scheduled to go live on the 3rd August following a settling in period.

Previously the Melbourne operation ran each site independently. Orders were taken at each site by local customer services operatives. The allocation of loads to trucks was handled at each site by local dispatchers. The new system saw this move to a centralised customer services and despatching function for all Victorian sites. With greater overall visibility the operation can now share resources easily and direct effort to the busiest areas of the business.

Our brief on the weighbridge function was to de-skill the role and make this as slick and efficient as possible.  In the first three weeks there were over 6,000 weighbridge transactions moving over 100,000 tonnes of material.

enwis) the German built solution written specifically for the waste management and recycling industry has been successfully implemented at over 170 companies and used by more than 5,000 users worldwide.  en wis) is the only vertical solution officially certified by Microsoft for recycling and waste management. The solution now provides a scalable platform from which Alex Fraser can handle future growth.
